Thurlstone Primary School Sport Premium 2017-2018

gold-kitemarkThurlstoneSchools must us the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and Sport they offer. This means that schools should use the Primary PE & Sport Premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers.
  • build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.

Schools are required to publish details of how they spend this funding as well as on the impact it has on pupils PE and sport participation and attainment.

    -Ensure that staff are supported and upskilled in the delivery of physical education and school sport -PE Specialist to work alongside teaching staff in physical education lessons

    -Provide pupils with the opportunity to experience a broad range of additional activities during curriculum time and also during OSHL. -Team Activ to deliver PE Lessons in addition to the current Physical Education lessons focussing on alternative activities to engage all pupils
    -Team Activ to deliver a range of After School Activity Clubs that engage different pupils throughout the year in a range of diverse activities.

    • Golden time activities for pupils in class 1-5.
    • Fitness, Climbing Frame, Football, Dodgeball, Tennis, Hockey, Walking Club, Cycling and Multi Skills.
     

    The Daily Mile

    • The Daily Mile was implemented in October 2015. Every child in school spends between 10 and 15 minutes every day walking, jogging or running around either the school field or the playground. The children’s fitness levels have soared with many taking up running as a regular hobby outside school

    Junior Playground Leaders Course

    • Delivery of Junior Playground Leaders Course to Year 6 pupils to enable them to lead physical activity and games at break and lunchtimes. Use of the Playground Leaders as a role model for younger pupils.

  • Key Indicator 3 – Staff Teaching PE & Sport

    Increased confidence, knowledge of all staff in teaching PE and sport

    Teacher Support at Thurlstone Primary

    • Team Games – Classes looked at a range of sports that use throwing and catching as the main skill. From rounders, basketball, netball and cricket.
    • Dance – Classes focused on a variety of different themed sessions such as The Lion King, Toy Story, and The Jungle.
    • Quidditch – The pupils experienced what it was like to be Harry Potter playing Quidditch, through a mixture of sports such as netball, dodgeball and handball.

    Adult Playground Leaders Course

    • Delivery of Adult Playground Leaders Course to SMSA’s to increase knowledge of confidence on staff in the delivery of lunchtime activities
